Native American Population Statistics

There are approaching 100,000 persons living in North Carolina who claim themselves to be Native American. Nearly half are Lumbee living in Cumberland County. With a population of only 28 according to the 2000 US Census, Alleghany County has the fewest Native Americans of any of North Carolina's 100 counties.
