Taking Tea

We learn from the Alleghany News that we now have about 4000 teapots and a full-time teapot curator in the county. The teapots, of course, are destined for the yet-to-be-built teapot museum below the Backwoods Beat music store and Una’s Cornucopia herbs and vitamins store on South Whitehead Street in Sparta. Next thing you know they will be conducting training sessions for the docents.

I’m not certain that the teapot museum is going to be a big draw for citizens of Allehany County. For most of us, it’s “sweetea” -- and plenty of it -- on ice. But, who knows. In a few years we could be reading a weekly column entitled "Tea Times" in the News with stories that begin something like “Last Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Junior Jones held a tea at her home in honor of her sister, Mrs. Bill Smith, who was visiting from State Road. Later in the afternoon, the party thoroughly enjoyed a visit to the Sparta Teapot Museum.”

I don’t know about you, but if a class called “Taking Tea” is ever offered down at the library, I’m signing up.

Tootle loo.
