Land's Sake!

Laura Dean, reporter for the Alleghany News, paid a visit to the Alleghany County Register of Deeds last week and found that 2005 was yet another record year for property transfers. I don't like to hear that.

By township, the number of transfers were:

Piney Creek - 464
Gap Civil - 363
Cherry Lane - 294
Glade Creek - 175
Prathers Creek - 101
Whitehead - 87
Cranberry - 56

As far as I'm concerned, being at the bottom of this list ain't all bad: the lower the number, the better I like it!
