The Saturday Luncheon
The CFO and I ventured down to The General Store today for lunch and we ran into an old high school classmate from Charlotte. Nice guy but he's the blind one in the white cap that said McLendon didn't get into the end zone year before last when the Tar Holes "beat" the Wolfpack. Since he retired at the end last season and I was in a "be nice to everyone" mood, I didn't mention it.
The CFO and I both had a hot dog "all the way" which comes on a platter with a pickle and bag of chips. I had a genuine Cheerwine from the cooler and the CFO had a cup of hot green tea. We finished off with a nice cinnamon bun. When it came time to check out, the cash register whirled and purred for what seemed an eternity and I was beginning to wonder if I was going to have to make a quick trip the ATM down at the bank. Alas, when the sum as announced I was able to cover the $5.41 total (including sales tax) out of pocket.
I've had a Big Mac that cost more than that!
