Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream ...
... I never did have before.
Now, rarely do I remember a dream but this one somehow stuck because it was so totally absurd.
I was in a department store something like a Belk's and somehow I learned that they offered train service to the parking lot. Now, I didn't have a car in the lot but I wanted to ride the train anyhow. So I hop on this very European train at the station located right there inside the store and we start out through the countryside.
The ride out of many miles was uneventful except for passing under an old steam engine somehow hovering over the tracks with the front end pointed at us at an oblique angle. It looked as if it were in suspended animation just after the tracks on which is was traveling had suddenly ended. But there it was, in the air above us.
At the parking lot, I exited the train and join the que for the ride back to the store. We first make a stop alongside a fence surrounding a cow pasture. The fence was so close to the train that no one can get on or off. So, handy me, I hop out with my wire clippers and start nipping away, but stop when I realize the cows could get out. So I just push the fence away from the train, toward the pasture, and we departed.
The next stop was at a station inside an old wooden barn that smelled very much like a barn full of fresh cow manure. So, I go outside for fresh air and there is another engine with pigeon poop dripping from it. The engineer was busy spraying it down with some kind of disinfectant from a plastic spray bottle.
And, that's when I realize the alarm clock had sounded.
Now, folks, just what the heck was that all about? Why was the department store in the country? Why was the parking lot miles from the store? Why the steam engine suspended in the air without visible means of support? Why did we stop by the cow pasture? Why was there a train station in a cow barn? Why was pigeon poop dripping from the train outside?
On second thought, may we should just let the whole thing rest!
