Made in China
Seems that I was eligible for a retirement gift. Since I already own a watch, I opted for a gift certificate instead and it arrived last week.
I wanted to use the certificate to buy a gift that would be an appropriate reminder of my 24 years of loyal service to my employer. So, I went down to Lowes Home Improvement Center yesterday and bought myself a chop saw.
Now, folks, it's a really nice DeWalt chop saw and will have great utility in my metal sculpting. But, wouldn't you know that it was an American branded saw made in China?
I looked at the German branded saws. Made in China.
I looked at the Japanese branded saws. Made in China.
The only thing they didn't have was a Chinese branded saw made in China!
Who's fooling who? Why not just put a label on the package that says "Long Gone Saw Works" and place -- along with the saw -- a fortune cookie in the box with a message reading "Your grandchildren will speak fluent Chinese" and be done with it?
