A Sure Sign of Fall
One of the sure signs of fall in the mountains is the return of field mice to the house. And, upon our return tonight, we have seen a number of "calling cards" suggesting that they are here amongst us once more.
This will be Suzy Q's first night to use those hunting skills she has been practicing for weeks now on real live mice! She's more than quick enough. And, strong enough, too. My guess is that the encounter will be no real contest.
We think she's going to be a champion mouser. And, to that end, I have a plan for her "trophies". We'll just nip of a little mouse ear from each kill and, using a needle and thread, collect the ears on a string.
Hey, if it works for bulls and bull fighters, why not for mice and mice fighters?
Ole!
