Slo Go

Oh how quickly we got accustomed to UPS, Fedex and USPS Overnight!

My garden tractor is in transit from Spokane, WA by LTL (less-than-truck load) freight. True, it was picked up by the freight company the same day it was ordered (August 28) and has been to Renton, WA and Memphis, TN since then. It is now in Nashville, TN where it has been sitting in the trailer for three days. Indeed, it has been in a trailer waiting to be unloaded or on a dock waiting to be loaded most of time since since it was shipped.

My tractor next goes to Wytheville, VA for local delivery. When I called the Wytheville service center to correct the delivery address, the guy asked for local directions. After receiving them (Pine Swamp Road, Air Bellows Gap Road, second Waterfall Road but not the first, Deer This and Deer That) he was concerned. "Are you sure we can get a truck in there?"! I assured him that if we could get a hydraulic well drilling rig in we could get his little truck in.

Delivery is still scheduled for September 11. A week to make the four hour drive from Nashville through Wytheville seems about right. But, in the end, this slo go is well worth the $300 savings.

And, at 620 pounds, UPS Next Day is totally out of question!
