02 - 12 - 32 - 42 - 51 - 41

When I was over in Jefferson on Tuesday I stopped in the cigar store there and invested $2 in something called the North Carolina Powerball Power Play. The nice lady there said the numbers 02 - 12 - 32 - 42 - 51 - 41 were going to win me $67 million on Wednesday night. So, I went home with my ticket from the machine, signed up to receive email from the North Carolina Educational Lottery and made plans for a month-long trip to Estonia.

Sure enough, when I looked at my email box this morning I had a message from the North Carolina Educational Lottery but it said the winning numbers were 02 - 08 - 22 - 29 - 37 - 03 and that nobody won. Well, of course not. That's the wrong set of numbers! I've already bought the winning ones, 02 - 12 - 32 - 42 - 51 - 41.

Anyhow the email message said that for another $2 I would get $78 million. Well, I've been around the block a time or two and know a scam when I see it. I paid $2 for $67 million and they want $2 more for an additional $11 million. No way.

No, Sir. I'm sticking with the numbers I've already bought until they belatedly pick 02 - 12 - 32 - 42 - 51 - 41 and give me the $67 million they owe me. And, I'm going to write a long letter to the Governor about what's going on with the North Carolina Educational Lottery, too. Seems that Jim Black ain't the only rat that's been hanging out in Raleigh of late!

I feel bad about missing out on that sojourn in Estonia come spring, but I'm mighty proud about all the help the kids will get in school with my $2.

And, I'm never going back to that cigar store in Jefferson again. Their prices for cigars were way too high.

Hmmm. I'll bet you that JR sells discounted lottery tickets at his cigar stores. You think? They've sure got a bunch of discounted cigars and NASCAR stuff in 'em.
