Lottery Winner!
On the way back from the city dump yesterday I stopped at the 7-Eleven and invested $1 in the North Carolina Educational Lottery. And, when I checked the numbers this morning, I was a lottery winner!
My glee was short lived, however, when I realized that I was taking money away from the kids in our schools. So, to quiet my guilt, I decided to reinvested all my winnings in the lottery.
Yes, the entire $1 I had won for having two of the Cash 5 numbers!
When I took my ticket back to the 7-Eleven to claim my winnings, I announced to the clerk that I was a North Carolina Educational Lottery winner. He took my ticket, scaned it and smiled. "Yes", he says in Indian English "but without zeros!"
I now have a new Cash 5 lottery ticket and the odds of getting my newly won $1 back in tonight's drawing are 1 in 8.8.
Wish me luck!
