Suzy Goes Hiking

What a wonderful day on the mountain! A temperature of about 70°F, bright sunshine, a gentle breeze. The CFO and I decide to look for signs of spring on a hike of our trails.

So, off we go. The CFO, Sam and I ... and Suzy Q too. Yes, she was determined to follow along. No, she would not go back to the house.

In the beginning, Q was everywhere, inspecting everything. Climbing rocks. Blazing her own trails. Being a cat.

After a mile or so, she began to pant. The trail became more attractive. Diversions previously of interest had lost their appeal.

Suzy began taking rests, laying on cool rocks or moist soil. Sam finds it all amusing. Wimp!

When we reached the stream, Suzy Q balked. Despite her constant interest in the flushing of toilets, the babbling of the stream was of absolutely no interest. No way she's going to get her feet wet. So, she goes upstream and finds a fallen log to cross over it!

Crazy cat, Stinky.

Along the steam we found our signs of spring. The blue cohosh and trout lilies are sprouting. The trillium and meadow rue are in bloom. Beautiful!

The moss is at its greenest.

Now at the farthest point from the house on our hike, we began our return that proved to be filled with many rest stops for Q. But, she was a trooper and made it back on her own. Once at the house, I expected Suzy to head for the water and food bowls. Instead, she stretched out on the floor in front of the fireplace and rested ...

... one pooped cat!
