Appalachian Dreamcatcher
So, last evening after dinner, I went down to the basement to work on some small pieces of sculpture for a new gallery based on an idea I had been mulling around all weekend. The idea didn't pan out but, by 2:00 am, "Appalachian Dreamcatcher" had.
This two-dimension photograph does not do it justice. Sculpture is inherently three-dimension. The flat arts (painting, photography, etc.) attempt to project 3-D subjects onto a 2-D surface. But when a 3-D object is produced to be viewed in three dimension, a photography just doesn't get it done. So, I'm thinking about building a photographic studio for making animated GIF's of my sculpture pieces. I'm just been too busy making new pieces to do so right now.
According, for now you'll just have to take my word for it that "Appalachian Dreamcatcher" just may be the best piece I've ever done of late. FYI, it's about 3 feet tall.
Enjoy.
