Mushroom Labor
Well, folks, today was all about mushrooms. Yes, I began inoculating the mushroom logs with shiitake spores.
Drill a hole. Fill it with spore-bearing saw dust. Seal it with cheese wax. Drill a hole. Fill it with ... you get the idea. All. Day. Long.
(Photo of Dave at the inoculation station taken by his trusty photography aides, A. Tripod and Cam Timer.)
I did manage to inoculate 32 logs. Here's the first choir of 30, stacked in lean-to fashion.
Each and every one of those little black dots is a hole filled with spores and sealed with black wax. Mushroom farming would be great for someone with about a dozen kids to provide the labor.
Drill. Fill. Seal.
