Homecoming
Baby Kyle came home from the hospital today and the Parenting Olympics began in earnest for Wawa and Ed. The CFO is staying through Tuesday and I'm hanging around until Friday to lend a helping hand.
Aunt Thriller came up over the weekend to see her new nephew. She, having even less patience than I, was not at all happy with the Washington belt line traffic either on Friday evening or Sunday afternoon. But, we were all glad she came.
In the event you are wondering about that strange looking thing on Kyle's head, it's a Chicago Bears cap. Apparently they start 'em young in the Windy City.
Perhaps by the time Kyle is old enough to decide which NFL team is his team for himself, da Bears will have won another Super Bowl! Stranger things have happened, you know.
Thriller, the CFO and I ventured into downtown Baltimore on Saturday afternoon with the idea of visiting the National Aquarium. We arrived at 2:30 and the tickets being sold at that time were for entry at 6:30. That's even worse than sitting in Washington belt line traffic!
So, we walked around the Inner Harbor area for a while and then went over to Fells Point to have a cool beer at Bertha's.
I've now been in Maryland for 5 days and have yet to see either a raven or a terrapin. I did see a flock of pigeons. But, Poe didn't write "Quote the pigeon, 'Nevermore'", and "Fear the Pigeon" just doesn't have the same ring to it as the U of M's way cool "Fear the Turtle" jingle.
As for Grandpa Dave, he'll be just fine so long as the coffee holds out. Full beards and longish hair apparently are an oddity in Baltimore. Someone said I reminded them of Lee Marvin in the movie version of "Paint Your Wagon".
The CFO thinks it's more like Gabby Hayes.
If I had to pick one or the other, I would probably go with Lee Marvin. Gabby, you understand, wasn't in Cat Ballou.
