So Cool
Now, folks, this is about as worthless as the hind teat on a boar hog, but it's so cool. The folks at www.wunderground.com, who somehow make their living providing no charge broadcast services to owners of personal weather stations (PWS), have added the capability for broadcasting weather-related Webcam images as well.
If you go to my weather station history at http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KNCSPART3, for example, the latest Webcam image appears along with the weather data for the day in graphical and tabular format. Ho. Hum. I've had that for years on www.sunsetridge.com/weather.
Now what's so cool is that they store every image my weather station sends them every 5 minutes. So, if you go to http://www.wunderground.com/webcams/index.html and select North Carolina and then Whitehead, you can play back every image sent over a 24 hour period for any day!
In fact, if you have the Abode Flash player installed, you should be able to see a 24-hour sample above. (You will need to click the Run arrow twice the first time time through. And, once you have run it, go to Temporary Internet Files and remove wuplayer.swf if you want to get a new set of images ending at the current time.)
I just added the service a few days ago and today is the first day that has a complete set of images. Give it a try. The images at night are, of course, black but watching the sun rise and set is, well, so cool!
