Hot and Hotter
Well, folks, the temperature here at the Oinkster Fest in Middlesex County, VA has been hot, damn hot and hotter than the hinges on the back door of hell. No pain, no gain.
Yes, the eating is winding down at this late hour. So far (over two days) we've had steamed crabs (twice), cold cucumber soup, pork ribs, country ham and smoked turkey dip, hoe cakes, home-made sausage, liver mush, Florida mangoes, prime rib, beef shoulder clod, smoked rock fish, she-crab soup, fried alligator, hush puppies, pasta salad, pickled okra, tomatoes, cucumber, and a few other things that we are unable to collectively recall after drinking apple pie (not what you are thinking), cherry bounce (you have not idea), Happy Van Winkel 20-year-old Bourbon, a nice bottle of port, German beer, peaches (highly altered to never spoil) of course, Big Jim's corn squeezings made according to Uncle Jesse's recipe (which account for any misspellings herein).
Uncle Jesse's recipe involves 7 pounds of cracked corn, 7 pounds of sugar, 3 tablespoons of baker's yeast and 5 gallons of water. For complete recipe details, just Google "Uncle Jesse's recipe".
Good night, Irene.
