Pete Jones Pit: 5

OK, all the masonry work on the Pete Jones pit has been completed. We could cook a pig right now if push came to shove. But, better to wait 28 days for the mortar to reach full strength!


The inside dimension are 42 inches wide by 56 inches long. The bars for holding the pig will be 16 inches above the top of the floor. Then, there's another 8 inches between the bars and the top of the pit walls.

Next to come are a front door for shoveling in coals under the pig, a lid of some kind over the top and the floor itself. There's just not much to a whole hog pit!
