Kill the Lawyers

Yes, it's a sad day on the mountain today.

I went down to the dump to get a couple of well water tanks to use in a cistern system I'm building for the Hillside Garden and when I left the gatekeeper pulled me over. No more scavenging for metal.

Seems that some guy nearly cut his hand off while stealing copper from old refrigerators and now it's official. No more scavenging for metal. Signs are being made and everything. They are concerned about being sued.

I had a premonition yesterday of things to come when I stopped by City Body and got the Jeep inspected. I asked the fire chief (who owns City Body and did the inspection) if the fire department performed chimney safety inspections. Nope. They are -- here's your sign -- concerned about being sued if the house catches on fire after the inspection.

So it is that the fire department will come out and try to stop your house from burning down if and when it catches on fire, but will not participate in preventive measures to keep it from catching on fire in the first place.

And now the dump pounds the hell out of perfectly good and useful junk to ship to the Chinese as scrap metal for use in producing "Made in China" junk.

Kill the lawyers, I say! Kill them all.

And, quit ruining my life!
