Suzy and the Mice
It's that time of the year that mice to starting coming inside for the winter and Suzy Q has come to the mountains for a week of mousing. That's her job and she very good at it.
An extended family of white-footed field mouse have taken up residence in the wood-fired brick oven and love to build nests in the oven itself. So, today we introduced Suzy to them.
"Hey! I've not been in here before"
"Yup. They are here alright."
"You are mine any time I want you, Sucker!"
"Now that's pretty tricky. If I take a swat at you right now I would fall out and bust my big old butt. But, just you wait, my furry little friend. I'll be having you for dinner soon enough."
Most of the mice did not stay around for the photo shoot. Making leaps equivalent to that from a 20- or 30-story building onto the tiled patio below, they were jumping from the frying pan into the fire because, once there, Sam and Murphy were waiting to give chase.
The mice are gone from the oven for now, but don't you worry. They will be back soon enough.
