The Good News Gazette: Issue 2

I see in this morning's N&O that Butterball, the nation's largest turkey company, broke ground on a 45,692 square foot office building in Garner.

Seems that Carolina Turkey, down in Mt. Olive, bought the Butterball division from ConAgra last fall and adopted the name. Subsequently, the good folks in Garner offered Butterball about $180,000 in incentives to move Butterball's headquarters to their town.

Garner's good news is, of course, Mt. Olive's bad news. Nevertheless, the whole thing nets out as very good news because the local commercial real estate and construction people got a $12,000,000 deal out of it to build the new headquarters for Butterball. And, of course, Mt. Olive gets to keep the giblets.

Now we are talking turkey!

I'm all feklempt.
