Overkill
Seems that Angilo Freeland got stopped by Deputy Sheriff Doug Spiers down in Polk County, Florida. Spiers sensed something was amiss with Freeland and called backup. Freeland, who had jump bail a while back, made a run for it. The backup, Deputy Sheriff Matthew Williams, while in persuit of Freeland through the woods, was mortally wounded by eight gunshots, two of them to his head at close range.
When the SWAT team caught up with Freeland the next morning, they fired 110 shots, mortally wounding him with 68 of them. Commenting of the outcome, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd stated, "That's all the bullets we had or we would have shot him more. Quite frankly, we weren't taking any chances."
I'd say.
