'Sno Fooling

As I began my ascent of the Blue Ridge Mountain escarpment tonight, I was met by snow showers. Nearer the top, I was met by snow showers driven by high winds. The roads themselves had been blown clear by the winds for the most part.

But, when I reached the Blue Ridge Parkway ...

... the road surface was covered with snow and the winds were howling. I stopped in the calm of Wildcat Gulch (near Green Mountain) for this photograph. My Jeep's four-wheel drive was a good thing to have when I left or I'd probably still be there!

The little white pine by the side of the road that I lighted for Christmas greeted me with cheer upon my arrival on Sunset Ridge. The round white things are the snowflakes struck by the camera's flash. Hmmm, looks like I need to shape up the lights a little.

Tomorrow.
