Well, we finally got a decent cold snap this week.


The low of 17°F on Thursday night apparently was enough to prompt the first fruiting of Shiitaki mushrooms, shown here growing out of the cheese wax seal over a spore plug.


Maybe we'll have enough to stuff the Christmas turkey.
