Tutti Frutti

Yes, indeed, I visited the Alleghany CARES Thrift Shop on Saturday and there it was. For a grand total of $2.50 I could purchase a Deni Model 5100 Ice Cream Maker and thereby incorporate even more fruit into my diet! You cannot imagine my excitement at my good fortune.

So I bought the Deni Model 5100 Ice Cream Maker, took it home and made some banana ice cream.

The thing, with only four parts, works like a charm. The freezing container is a little double-walled bucket filled with a liquid (think of a Thermos filled with a liquid) that gets very cold when you put it in the freezer overnight. This bucket sits on the motorized base that turns it round and round. The dasher goes inside the bucked and is held in place (so that it does not turn) by the cover. The cover itself not only holds the dasher in place but also provides some insulation around the bucket and serves as a funnel for loading the unfrozen ice cream into the bucket. The whole thing, a simplicity of design, is a snap to clean.

Orange cake. Banana ice cream. Hey, I'm beginning to really like this regimen of more fruits and vegetables.

No, dear, I've not forgotten about the vegetables. I'm looking for a recipe for rhubarb pie.
