Little Italy
I was in need of semolina and durum flower for making pasta and so it was that the CFO and I visited Raleigh's Little Italy today. OK, we visited Conti's Italian Market at 618 North Person Street in Raleigh. If you don't know that address, it's in Mordecai, a block east of Peace College, and as close to Italy as you will get in this neck of the woods.
While there we (naturally) had a lunch of pasta soup, panini sandwich and house red wine. Good food, great atmosphere. Hard to believe it's in Raleigh.
Now for the bad news: Conti's is just across the street from the KrispyKreme donut bakery. And, here those little pieces of heaven are coming down the line.
Hey, the sign said they have ZERO trans-fats. (Rationalization is a wonderful thing at such times.) The CFO had a single and I had a brace. These college kids, just returning from the St. Patrick's Day Parade, ate all they wanted.
Remember those days when a donut or three didn't go directly, without passing GO, to fat?
