Snow?

Yep, it rained yesterday ... all day and all night long. Nice miserable soaking rain of 1.5 inches according to my weather station. Just what we needed. Oh, well, I stayed inside and made some formula for Billy and worked on some computer code for the CFO's Web site. Sam hates rain and I finally booted her out about noon for her morning constitutional. Murp wasn't very thrilled about getting wet either but did go of his own accord.

Like I told you, watering the new plantings and seedlings in the Hillside Garden on Tuesday was a sure bet to cause it to rain ... despite the weather forecast of a 100% chance of rain. Sure hope the seeds aren't floating down the headwaters of the Mississippi River this morning!

It stopped raining last evening and the wind began to howl like the hammers of hell. I could see the trees waving to and fro in the pale moonlight and an occasional star shining through the dark.

Sure enough, we have a temperature of 29°F and a frosting of snow on the ground this morning. Hmmmm. Masks a body wonder if those Romain lettuce setting that began life (or more accurately resumed life when seeds) down at the Bonnie Plants farm in Union Springs, Alabama are still standing. I'll check when the wind dies down.

The apple trees I planted last fall looked like dead sticks when I first saw them on Monday. But, when I peeled back a sliver of bark, they were green as a guord uderneith. They know spring ain't here yet.
