March 19, 2008
Interview of the Vice President by Martha Raddatz, ABC News
Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa
Muscat, Oman
10:20 A.M. (Local)
-------
Q: Two-thirds of Americans say it's not worth fighting, and they're looking at the value gain versus the cost in American lives, certainly, and Iraqi lives.
THE VICE PRESIDENT: So?
Q: So -- you don't care what the American people think?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: No, I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.
--------
So? Damn the torpedoes? Full speed ahead?
And to think that this cretin is a heartbeat away from becoming President of the United States.
Of course, it's only a true indication of the Straussian mindset that "father knows best" when it comes to governance.
The following day, Dana Perino, Dubya's press secretary. answered questions about Cheney's comments.
--------
Q: "So is the vice president saying it really doesn’t matter what the American public thinks about the war?"
PERINO "No, I don’t think that’s what he’s saying."
-------
So exactly what is Pernio saying?
-------
Q: The American people are being asked to die and pay for this. And you’re saying they have no say in this war?
PERINO: No, I didn’t say that Helen. But Helen, this president was elected…
Q: But it amounts to it. You’re saying we have no input at all.
PERINO: You had input. The American people have input every four years, and that’s the way our system is set up.
--------
Unfortunately, she is right when it comes to the President and Vice-President. Stupidity is not an impeachable offense.
