Big Day

Yup, I called the Social Security Administration office down in Wilkesboro and set up an interview for May 13 to file for "benefits" come the second anniversary of my "retirement". It's about time!

I've been "contributing" to the Social Security jackpot since 1963 when I was 17 years old. Based on the monthly "benefit" I'll be receiving, it will be 2018 when I'm 72 years old (theoretically) before I get back the contributions that I and my employers have made since then. And, that's both without any interest and before any taxes!

So, listen up all your working stiffs. I do appreciate the contributions you make to Social Security and Medicare every payday. Just keep 'em coming!

Who knows? I might well surprise everyone — including myself — and live long enough to get some "interest" back, too.
