Bustin' Out
It's a great time to be on the mountain with things bustin' out hourly.
Just since yesterday, here are what I presume to be the beginnings of the first blossoms on the Black Limbertwig apple tree. The apple (as are a number of other fruit trees) is a member of the rose family and these look a little like emerging rose buds, don't they?
Here's a Painted Trillium (Trillium undulatum) that popped up on one of the paths overnight.
And these are some of those ferns that shot up a few days ago.
The amazing thing about wildflowers is that probably far less than 1% of those in the wild are ever actually seen by anyone. We are just wayfaring strangers who happen upon them from time to time. In their world, we aren't important at all.
