Dream Dwellings
Over the 40+ years of our marriage, the CFO and I have lived in a dozen dwellings (of which two are second homes) at one time or another. None of these appear in my dreams. Nope. Three others, none of which I have ever actually seen much less dwelled in, appear from time to time.
The dream dwelling to first appear is a huge old house with white German siding located in some city. It has a dozen, or more, rooms in a maze-like configuration and we keep discovering (or perhaps re-discovering) more. Oddly, we never actually lived in this house. Rather, I stored a huge amount of junk from my childhood in its attic and occasionally I dream that we forgot to take this stuff with us when we sold or otherwise departed from the house. In this house, the CFO and I have no children.
The second dream dwelling is a condominium at the beach. Exactly why we bought this one is unknown but seems to be as rental property as we already owned another place at the beach that we regularly use. Problem is that this place is in a remote location and no one ever rents it. We visit from time to time, children in tow, to ascertain everything is OK and to make repairs as needed. Yet, we never stay there.
The third dwelling (and the one I dreamed of last night) is a second home somewhere in or near the mountains. It's always on the left side of the road as we arrive from the flatland, in a valley surrounded by trees on a back-sloping lot that sometimes runs down to a lake. We have a neighbor to our left and belong to a really nice golf club located further down the road. In this house, moderate in size, we do actually visit from time to time. While many feature of this dream are to be found in association with Sunset Ridge, the dream predates Sunset Ridge by many years.
The dreams of these three dwellings are not recurring dreams by any means. Indeed, only the dwellings themselves reappear and typically under very different circumstances. None of the dreams are frightening and the only bother is stuff I'm looking for that was left in the attic of the first one.
Why, oh, why do these dream dwellings reappear?
