They're Back
Yes, the hummingbirds are back in Air Bellows. One just few over to the feeder hanger and buzzed around with a "Hey, where's the food, Dude?" look.
Now that's an amazing feat for a critter with a brain no larger than a pea. It left here last fall, flew non-stop over the Gulf of Mexico, wintered in Cancun and flew back non-stop over the Gulf of Mexico to its feeder here on my back deck.
And, we think homo sapiens are smart! First of all we would get lost before we got to West Jefferson. Further, our idea of a non-stop flight would be in a Boeing 747. And, come spring, we couldn't possibly find our car in the airport parking lot.
I've hurriedly mix up a batch of hummingbird fuel for our fatigued fliers and hung up the feeder for all — hummers and homo sapiens alike — to enjoy.
