Oh! My

Yet another record high at RDU today: 101° F.

We managed to get to 81°F on the mountain before a front came through and the temperature dropped 10°F in 45 minutes. We've maintained a 20°, or greater, differential with RDU for the entire afternoon.

When the front came though, the dew point did not drop. That means, the relative humidity increased, bringing with it the chance of rain. Indeed, some white thunder boomers formed to the west and we got one good thunder "pop" out of it. I did everything possible to ensure rain, including watering the plants, leaving the Jeep windows open and hoisting a steel-shafted 2 iron heavenward. (The old golf wag is that the 2 iron is so difficult to hit not even God can. But, like us mortals, He surely likes to try.)

Alas, we did get a few showers but nothing to write home about. I enjoyed a plate of pasta and the last of Talbeau's wine on the front porch as it passed.

The temperature is currently 68°F with a gentle breeze.

Nice!
