Oinkfest 2008
More from this year's gathering of the clan.
The CFO and I stayed again in the Pig Room at Dragon Run Inn, a B&B in Church View, VA. Ivan repainted the room over the winter and it came out a little more pink than he had intended. In addition to Pig, Cow and Horse Rooms, Sue and Ivan have now added a Sheep Room to those from which guests may pick. (Only the Pig Room is pink. The new Sheep Room, for example, is green ... lime green.)
I can identify with the bumper sticker on Dan's truck.
Here's Dan at work in the pit porch of his eatery, "Something Different". He's roasting coffee in the machine to his immediate left.
These ladies are pulling pork in the kitchen for a sandwich or two.
These are mullet that Big Jim brought with him from Florida and were smoked in Dan's pit for our dining pleasure.
Ginger made us a nice cake decorated to resemble Picasso's paintings of sunflowers.
Sorry, Ginger, I made the photo sideways. So, here's one of Picasso's painting sideways.
The nearby town of Urbanna was founded in 1680 as a port for exporting tobacco to England.
Here are a couple of views of the modern harbor. The Rappahannock River is right center through the inlet.
It's now used primarily for pleasure craft as near as I can tell.
Oops! Bad day for this skipper.
Some of the buildings in downtown Urbanna date to the 1700's. Small. Quaint.
Thanks, Dan and Barbara, for being the perfect hosts once again.
