Low Life
Our neighbors, Karen and Larry, saw Murphy as he was hit by an automobile last Sunday evening. The vehicle was a white Jeep Wrangler without a top. We have seen it around the neighborhood a number of times before.
Prior to being struck, Murphy and Sam had left the house to chase deer back into the woods. Deer, you understand, come out at dawn and dusk to graze in openings alongside the woods. That is also the time that deer hunters go driving around, looking for deer to hunt during the deer hunting season. We suspect that was what the driver of the white Jeep was doing.
That Murphy was struck, I can live with. But, once Murphy was struck, the driver speed away from the scene. And, in my opinion, that makes him or her one of the lowest forms of life on the planet. Be the victim dog or man, hit-and-run is simply inexcusable.
