Murph at Home

Murphy came home today from the animal hospital and made a beeline to his favorite spot under the dining table.

The white sock you see is to keep him from licking the small laceration in his hand. The wrist is doubled back (don't try that as a homo sapient) to keep him from dragging his fingers on the ground (a source of infection).

Now the good news is that the vet thought she saw a reaction to pain when she cleaned the wound. And, I believe I've seen Murphy move his upper arm in a normal fashion several times. However, he received his final shot of seroid today and we will not be able to make a really good prognosis for another week or so. But, there is at least some reason for hope.

Murph does not appear to be in any pain but is a little drowsy, perhaps from all the medication.

Welcome home, Big Boy.

PS: In the event you might be wondering about the vet bill for an emergency hospital visit (2 hours) on a Sunday night by the vet, three shots of cortisone, multiple shots of antibiotics, etc., kennel for two days, dressing and care of the laceration, 10-day supply of antibiotics, and supply of gauze and tape for dressing the wound at home, the grand total came to $129.50.

  1. Yay! I'm glad Murph is home and feeling better. I am however shocked at your vet bill! I just brought Gobbles home from the vet this afternoon for a follow up blood screen and physical (no hospital stay this time) for his liver problem and my total was $154!!! I cannot complain though, this is significantly less than my vet in Baltimore cost, which I paid an ungodly amount for a dead cat!
