Stupid
How stupid can you get? The CEO's of Ford, GM and Chrysler flew into Washington DC today, tin cup in hand asking for a $25 billion bailout, in corporate jets ... three corporate jets. Just how stupid can you get?
With their companies losing tens of millions of dollars daily, one would think they would have at least jet-pooled for PR if nothing else. And, that's not to mention that the airline industry offers 24 non-stop flights a day between Detroit and Washington-area airports.
Now, I know that the failure of even one of these auto companies would have devastating effects on the US economy, But, folks, this is symbolic of the arrogance that Big Business has come to embrace as status quo.
And, just what do these bad boys knock down? Well, here are the 2007 numbers:
G. Richard Wagoner (GM) $14,415,914 ($39,495 per day)
Alan Mulally (Ford) $21,670,674 ($59,371 per day)
Robert Nardelli (Chrysler) $1+
Chrysler is a privately own corporation as of August 2007. Nardelli's total compensation package (other than his annual salary of $1) is not made public.
