Wallpaper and Stuff
For ease of cleaning, I decided to install vinyl wallpaper in the area above the bakery oven in the shop. When I visited Lowe's in Galax on Wednesday, they had none. Zero. Zilch. Just empty shelves and a few rolls in a shopping cart for $1 each. Strange I thought. But when I visited the wallpaper retailer in Sparta, the owner said nobody is using wallpaper anymore. In fact, he offered to sell me any wallpaper he had in stock for $1 a roll. Some of it I do believe had been on the shelves since he opened the store in 1968 but I did manage to find something suitable for my purposes.
He also sells and installs carpeting, tile and engineered wood flooring. While times have been slow before, he sez that he has never seen anything like the present. Some days he goes an entire day without a single customer even entering the store. Now, folks, that's slow.

In Germany, wallpaper is a matter of regional preference. In the northern parts - north of the river Main that is - wallpaper is the common thing, while in the south whitewashed walls are the name of the game.
ReplyDeleteSince the Linebacks came from north of the Main, its is perfectly O.K. for LDL to go for wallpaper.
