Idiot
Well, it was very cold yesterday and I knew better than trying to obtain water through the garden hoses. So, I waited until this morning. Unfortunately, some small amount of residual water remained somewhere in the hoses and, alas, when I turned on the water pump in the well, I was without water ... again. Needing to go to Winston-Salem today, I took a "fake" bath (fresh clothes and lots of underarm deodorant) and headed off down the mountain for the day. At some point the residual water thawed and, having (a) left the pump ON and (b) the water hoses disconnected, I am still without water tonight as the pump, naturally, pumped water onto the ground until the well ran dry.
Idiot.

There is a truck stop that may be helpful called Pilot Travel Center on highway 48 right off of highway 268 between Elkin and Jonesville. Just in case you want to freshen up before the grand opening or the next visitation with the CFO.
