The Curve
I've commuted into town the last two days on my scoot, Big Ali, following the same route on which The Incident occurred last fall. I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive as I approached The Curve on two wheels for the first time since The Incident. However, having past it, my only thought was "How in hell did I wreck on that thing?" The curves immediately before it, yes. But not The Curve.
Having now ridden two and fro around The Curve twice I have come to the conclusion that the only possibility was that I allowed my eyes to follow the approaching car rather than keeping them on the road ahead. By the time the car passed and my eyes returned to where they should have been (two seconds ahead), I had neither enough road nor time to safely make the turn without getting into the grass.
Bang!
Needless to say, I'm concentrating on practicing the two-second and learning to avoid following approaching vehicles with my eyes. Bad habits are mighty hard to break.

Dave, you OK? I have missed hearing about the "life of Dave".
ReplyDeleteDitto. I was wondering the same thing!

Something in the Sunset Ridge area must be more interesting than keeping us updated.

ReplyDeleteI'm not super familiar with that area , but it looks to me like the clessot location listed on the chart is Farmington, with a date of May 1. If you tend to have similar weather to Farmington, I would use that date. You're right on the edge of the two groups. If it is a mild winter/spring and you are excited, I would follow the yellow schedule. If it is a cold winter-spring and you are more relaxed, I would use the green schedule.
