That's Not Cricket

So I left my cell phone charger on the mountain and needed to buy a another, Google said that the Cricket Wireless stores in Cary had chargers for my brand of phone. And, off I go to the traffic mayhem at Crossroads Shopping Center.


Things did not get off on the right foot. As I was turning off the main road into the parking lot some young lady with a Michigan State plate on her car blew her horn at me for delaying my turn by three microseconds. Naturally I gave her a 3-mph drive down the access road (which had no passing lane). I could see smoke coming out of the driver's compartment!

So I go into the Cricket store with salespeople behind a counter and I approached a one without customers.

"Sir, would you mind standing behind the line on the floor?"

Now steam was coming out of my head. Suddenly I had flashbacks of being at a ticket counter in an airport.

"Yes, I certainly would mind!"

After she arrived at an understanding of the proper relationship between customer and and salesperson, we had a very amicable transaction in which she saved me a significant amount of money.

She was a very nice young lady just following impersonal Cricket instructions. Why, I wondered, bother having salespeople?
