Twisted
While working with my hops vines to get them climbing on the trellis, I noticed that they all twist clockwise (as viewed from the top) around the twine as shown here.

If I twisted the vine counterclockwise to get it headed in the right direction, it would unwrap itself and re-twist itself clockwise around the twine. Interesting.
Turns out that vines are right and left handed, with 90% of all vines twisting counterclockwise and only 10%, including my hops plants , twisting clockwise. Theories concerning effects of the Coriolis force (the one that makes water in the toilet and hurricanes turn in different directions north and south of the equator) and the tip of the plant following the sun are totally unrelated to the phenomenon. Further, no one has proven why as yet.
