Mountain Laurel In Bloom

The Mountain Laurel (Mountain Ivey it's called hereabouts) is now in full bloom on the mountain. I think it's beautiful with its pale hint of red.

The roots of the Mountain Laurel were used to make tobacco pipes during WW-II when European briar roots became unavailable. In fact, the Dr. Grabow pipe factory moved from NY to Sparta and is still located here. Unfortunately, most the manufacturing is now done in China.
