Gun Silence
The sound of the gun silence from the gun advocates on my facebook friends list over the past 24 hours is deafening.
Not a peep about 2nd amendment rights to own guns.
Not a peep about their need to own guns to protect themselves.
Not a peep a about how the NRA is defending American liberties.
Nope.
No talk about night shoots. No gun shows. No new weapons. No "stand-your-ground". No muzzle velocities.
Nothing.
They are talking about ANYTHING but that or the 20 kindergarteners and 6 school employees killed in Newtown, CT yesterday.
Why are you being so sheepish, gun advocates? It's not like you. Why?
[caption id="attachment_1774" align="alignright" width="300"] Sig Sauer[/caption]
Do you think what happened yesterday is not worth a mention? That it not an American tragedy of any significance? Do you have no sympathy for the dead or their families? Or, is it that you are more concerned that, if you do, keeping your semi-automatic big boy war toys like those used in yesterdays killing will be endangered?
Do you think the 20 kindergarteners and 6 school employees killed yesterday are a small price to pay in exchange for owning your personal semi-automatic big boy war toys? Is it worth even one of the dead kindergarteners?
The semi-automatic weapons used in yesterday's shooting, you understand, were legally owned by a gun advocate, namely the shooter's mother. The mother took her sons to the gun range to learn how to use and handle them. This you constantly advocate.

The shooter did not own the guns; he was too young to own them in Connecticut. He obtained access to them from a gun advocate — his mother — and killed her with them. Then, using the skills he learned at the gun range, he quickly and efficiently used them to systematically kill — slaughter — 20 kindergarteners and 6 school employees in a matter of minutes.
Not a single gun advocate was there to defend the victims with their semi-automatic big boy war toys. But, then, they never are. They stand on the sidelines, making denials and bragging about how they have a right to defend THEMSELVES. To hell with everyone else. Let 'em die so long as I don't. Is that it?
So what shall we do, gun advocates? Arm everyone as you advise?
School teachers? Kindergarteners?
Santa Claus?
Is that your solution to the problem of gun violence in America?
Or, is it perhaps you don't believe we have a gun problem?
Denial of reality is always much easier than reality.
Or is denial your reality?

"The medical examiner, H. Wayne Carver II, speaking at a news conference in Newtown, said that all of the victims died of gunshot wounds. The seven bodies he examined personally had three to 11 wounds each, he said."
