A Gun Goes to School

"Today, at Ragsdale High School, a touchless security screener alerted staff of a weapon being brought onto campus, resulting in law enforcement confiscating a gun. The weapon was discovered as soon as the student arrived, and no one was threatened or harmed."

Yup. Guns are going to our public high schools with kids too young to have their names or mug shots posted in the media. In this case, no on was shot and, according to police, the kid had intended to sell the firearm to someone at school.

Where were this kid's parents? Did they know and didn't care? What gun control law could possibly prevent this kid from taking a gun to school to sue or sell? After all, it is already a felony to do so and laws did nothing to prevent this incident.

Gun control among our youth begins at home with proper parenting, not in the bowels of government or windpipes of politicians. Laws can only provide a penalty if the laws are not obeyed. Laws are effective only if obeyed. And parents are the ones who must teach their kids to obey them.
