Immigration Attitudes

In a recent Gallop poll only 28% of American were very or somewhat satisfied with US immigration policy. Some 40% want it decreased while only 8% want it increased.

I do not currently see immigration as a threat to our nation. Save the Native Americans, we are all immigrants or the progeny of immigrants. In fact, I see immigration as an overall positive for our nation. We bring in new minds with fresh ideas for solving old problems and creating new opportunities.

But what I strongly disagree with is our efforts to keep out illegal immigrants. We are a nation of laws and our immigration laws should be rigorously enforced. If you are here illegally here, you should be removed from our nation.

The laws are clear. The enforcement of them by the Executive Branch of of government is a failure.

If we, as a nation, don't like the immigration laws we have, let's change them. That what we have a Legislative Branch of government to do.

End of story.
