Consciousness & Thought

We sometimes have consciousness of the thoughts generated within our brain and sometimes we consciously act on those conscious thoughts. Sometimes we act on irrational conscious thought which have little or anything to do with the reality initiating these erroneous thoughts in the brain. We come to believe our thoughts to be truths.

These erroneous thought can be of a number of different kinds:

  1. ATTENTION. We disconnect from the present moment
  2. SELF-CONCEPT: We believe in self-concepts that do not match our present state of being.
  3. THINKING. We regard our unhelpful thoughts as truly valid.
  4. PERSPECTIVE. We view our distressing thoughts and emotions as something to be avoided or controlled.
  5. DIRECTION. We lose sight of what is important to us.
  6. BEHAVIOR. We attempt to control and avoid our distress, making things worse in the long run.
But, in the end, the root of all erroneous thought of which we are conscious is always self-imposed.
