Who Is This Man?
Well, it's Harold Camping and he is predicting that the Biblical event known as the Rapture will occur May 21 and will be followed by the end of the Earth and Universe on October 21. He basis his assertion (a.k.a. hypothesis) on his interpretation of the Christian Bible.
Is the right? Well, his prediction is close ended. It will or will not happen on those days.
Now most Christians will say he is outright wrong or extremely lucky because their assertion is that the Bible says that the timing is unknown. That is to say, their assertion is open ended and can be proven true only IF and WHEN the events occur. This, of course, is another of the many negatives of the Christian church: if you are not prepared for them at all times, you WILL go to Hell. This is yet another of the plays on fear of the unknown they use on the believers. You are expected to live your whole life in a defensive mode in support of a belief of something unproven that MIGHT or MIGHT NOT happen.
That, in my opinion, is no way to spend the life that you DO KNOW you have ... here and now. Why waste it on an unproven promise?
